State Secretary Writes

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

The first phase of the academic year has come to a close and the second phase has already commenced. We usually consider the first phase as the preparatory time for the ministry. During this period, we finish planning and restart the cell groups, hold different camps. Now the stage is almost ready for the next step in ministry.

In the second phase, we focus more on the growth of the ministry. Growth in the ministry would mean more effective evangelism, discipleship and leadership building. I request the student body to take this year’s theme for our ministry, ‘Outreach and soul winning’ more seriously. To do so, a prayerful planning is required. Let us use the Christmas time to spread the Gospel creatively. Each student member can have a personal plan for sharing His love with fellow students. Mentoring is another area we need to focus this year, especially student to student mentoring. I praise God for the prayer initiative in certain pockets and it would definitely be beautiful if it can catch a momentum in every part of Kerala. We should have more night vigils and SHOPs (Sweet Hour Of Prayer).

Graduates and staff workers can concentrate more on the quality of our ministry. We should have close contacts with our student leaders. It is encouraging to see some of our graduates and staff making themselves available for the students, and we need such people more in our constituency. Every student who comes to our group must get personal attention from a senior student or a graduate. We can ask our senior graduates who are retired from their work to help us meet this need.
