State Secretary Writes

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: for he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (Heb 11: 8-10)

Stability, security and success are the words for today’s living. Man’s relentless effort drives him to achieve this unrealistic goal, resulting in frustration and hopelessness. This passage talks about a man who moved out from a stable, secure and familiar zone to a life unknown, insecure and unknown. “He lived as a sojourner in tents awaiting to reach the Promised Land.”When I read this passage, a question arose in my mind, “Without a fellowship, the written word and a limited understanding of YAHWEH, how could he lead such an exemplary life of faith?” Dear ones, we have all we need more than Abraham had, but we lack his kind of faith. Abraham heard the call and obeyed God by trusting Him. ‘Seeing is believing’ is the world’s motto. Believing what is unseen and intangible is foolishness to the world. Abraham chose to trust the promises of God rather than what the world had to offer.

In the past UESI family was known for living the life of faith. I interacted with Bro Sathkeerthi Rao, our former staff and senior recently in Chennai, he was sharing how UESI had grown as a faith movement. Many of our graduates, staff and students left their homes, moved to far off places after hearing the call and lived a life of faith and thus our minis- try grew. In December 2010, I visited a former graduate who had left Kerala for the ministry in the North East which was nothing less than a faith venture for him. He adopted a very different culture and food habits for Kingdom’s sake. His life encouraged us. May God raise more such people in our midst and also enable us to have a faith like that of Abraham.

The UESI Kerala AGM was held from 11th to 13th of February in our centre. We will have more details in the next newsletter.
